Dream Theater — The Dark Eternal Night (guitar cover)

When I decided to buy my first electric guitar in 2018, this song was crucial in choosing it. Back then, it was a question of choosing a six or seven-string guitar. Thanks to the song "The Dark Eternal Night" from the album "Systematic Chaos" by Dream Theater, the choice fell on a seven-string Ibanez. A couple of years later, after mastering it, I ordered a headless seven-string beauty from Conpeth Guitars.

The composition "The Dark Eternal Night" caught me firstly with its complex meters, original non-repeating riffs and cool melodies. Unlike my cover, the original song is 2 times longer, so I shortened it.

The video was shot on a Samsung phone and edited with DaVinci Resolve video editor. It was my first experience of using it. This editing tool is good because it's free and works on Linux, of whose user I am.

Here is what I got in the end:

Equipment:

  • Guitar: Conpeth ProTone Custom GT-7MS
  • Preamp: Dut Beardy Islander Mk2
  • IR: OwnHammer
